    what we collect

When you send a note through the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message. That's all the form asks for, and it's all we keep.

We also count visits with Umami, an open-source visitor counter we host ourselves. It sets no cookies. For each page you view it records the page address and title, the page you came from, your screen size and your browser language, and works out a rough location (country, region and city) and your browser and device type from your connection. Your IP address is not kept. Visitors are told apart by a code that changes every month, so a visit this month cannot be tied to a visit next month. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, your visit is not counted at all.

    why we collect it

To reply to you. Your note is emailed to hannah@strawb.co.nz and answered from there. If we go on to work together, the conversation becomes part of that project.

The visit counts tell us which pages people read and where they arrive from, so we know what on the site is worth keeping. That is the whole use. Nobody is followed around the web with it.

    where it goes

Your note lives in the studio's email. It is not sold, shared, or passed to anyone outside strawb software, and it is never used for marketing you did not ask for.

The visit counts live in a database we run ourselves on Railway, a hosting service. Nobody outside strawb software has access to it, and nothing about your visit is sent to an outside analytics or advertising company.

The selected-work section shows live previews of a few client sites. Those previews are loaded from the client sites themselves, and each site has its own privacy policy.

    how long we keep it

As long as the conversation, or the project it turns into, is live. If you would like your note deleted sooner, ask and it will be.

Visit counts have no automatic expiry. We keep them so we can compare one year with the next. Because they are not tied to you, there is nothing in them to delete on request.

    your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hannah@strawb.co.nz and it will be done.
